Maybe you found out your kid or kids weren't invited to one of their friends parties! Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it's no big deal! Well, the other night while not being able to sleep I thought of this and the Scripture came to mind in Matthew 25:1-13; "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

" And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!' Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

"Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, "Lord, Lord, open to us!" But he answered and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you."

"Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming."

Think of your husband (or wife) coming home from Iraq or Afghanistan, and you do all these preparations to be ready! Clean the house, bathe the children, iron clothes, get your hair done, apply your face mask:) and etc. Then you get a call that they will be at the airport in an hour or two. You don't go back and start all over! That's why you planned ahead! You wouldn't say ok, let's go back to the bathroom and reapply the face mask and iron the clothes again! Or better yet change your outfit for the hundredth time! No way! You would hop in your car and pray you don't get a ticket because you are so excited you want to fly there!

The same is true about our walk with the Lord! When He comes to take us home or you pass away before that time, there won't be a chance to come back here and get ready! Time's up! Your on a one way train! But don't be sad because if you are reading this there is still time! Get your heart and life ready now! Prepare yourself by daily meeting with the Lord! Talk to Him, He loves to hear from you! The party He has planned will be like no other and He WANTS you to be there! He cares about you and wants to show you how much:) If you already are on this path then I encourage you to continue on it! Keep your eyes on the prize, so to speak! Love Him! Share with Him! There is nothing He hasn't heard or seen before:)

Well, there, now you too get to hear my middle of the night brainstorm:)!!!

Love,

Kendra

How are you preparing for Heaven? What are some ideas to show your children how to prepare for Heaven?

Laziness

I admit it! I have been super lazy about writing! Life has been super crazy! But I have decided to try and write once a week if for noone else's sake but mine! I have a goal that in 30 days we will have new "good" habits!

One of our habits we've decided upon is to have "real" devotions for 30 days! We are on day 29. Want to know what "real" devotions are? Maybe you just want to know what a devotions is? Well we are devoted to serving the Lord, therefore we show Him our devotion by taking time daily to meet with Him alone and as a family.

Here's what we do:

1) I make cocoa (with some helping hands)

2) We gather all our Bible's

3) We pick where we are reading (which is through Proverbs right now)

4) We go around taking turns reading a couple verses

5) When the reading is done we ask questions we may have had and we say what verse we

enjoyed or felt like was something we could apply to our life!

6) We go around and pray

7) We pick our favorite song and take turns singing that persons song

8) We then always end by singing "Lord Prepare Me"

I don't know why I got out of this habit! It is such a calm to our busy day. We do it right after supper before we even clean up! If I get busy, I get tired, no devotions!

Some other things I want to do in 30 days is make a time each day to play or do something with my kids. (besides homeschool) Sew a dress for Kasedria and one to match for her doll.

Sew a skirt for me to wear during Tom's R&R:) Just to be more creative and stop letting the evenings pass without accomplishing anything special.

So here's where I would love to hear from you! Especially my girls going through the deployments! What could you do for 30 days that would help you feel like you've accomplished something? They say do something for 30 days and it will be a habit! Maybe you yell mean at your kids, sometimes I do too, let's try and stop for 30 days! Tell me! Don't be shy;) Ask your kids what they could do too! I would love to hear their ideas too:)

How's Your House?

One of my favorite verses is Joshua 24:15b-"But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." I love that because it's like telling the world where you stand! Someday I would like to put this on my wall, if I didn't move so much:) Anyways, I love the challenges that come with raising children. Don't mistake me it is not peaches and cream, but I love when I have taught something to the children and then I ask a question, it gives my heart joy to see their eyes light up because they know the answer! That is so fulfilling to me!
Going back to the verse, read the first part,"And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Wow! You have options of how you can design your life but as for me I will serve the Lord! If that doesn't make a lady wanna sing and shout for joy what will?
In school we take a snack break and I usually read a chapter out of one of the Christian novels I purchased for the kids. Well I did that but I decided to take more than 5 minutes with the kids but chose to take 30 minutes instead. I got out some Bible trivia cards and began quizzing the kids. I was not only amazed at how much they knew but I had FUN with my kids! That's right the word fun was in that last sentence:) I plan to do this everyday because it's just one more way I can choose to make God the head of our home!
So how, if it is God you serve, do you show it to your children? What special things do you do as a family to make God the head of your home?
Also, in designing your rooms how could you make God the focus?
Let me know I'm excited to read your responses:)

A New Leaf

So I haven't done any writing in quite a while but maybe no one was reading anyway;) A lot has changed including the transition of Tom going from Chaplain Assistant to a Chaplain! Brings us into a new unit here in Georgia, one that deploys, and a whole new kind of busy! He is still at CHBOLC(a school for becoming a chaplain) and he's already got two things on the agenda for when he gets back. It's going to be an interesting coming year to say the least! Looking forward to the change that God will do during this transition. Seems everytime something gets changed I have to learn a new lesson. Oh well let's move on and enjoy every moment!

Tomorrow I want to start a dialog by posting some interesting questions!
